Noise

Possible Solutions

Humming noise during operation:

It is normal for the unit to produce a humming noise during operation. The humming noise is the result of the power supply switching the magnetron on and off.

Humming noise from fan:

It is normal:

  • For the automatic cooling fan to run when the oven is in use and/or after the cycle completes.

  • To hear the automatic cooling fan move air when the oven is in use and/or cycle completes.

The automatic cooling fan:

  • Helps to cool the enclosed oven cavity and the electronic controls when the oven is in use and/or after the cycle completes.

  • Keeps the electronic controls cool during every oven function such as BAKE, BROIL or CLEAN.

It is not normal for the cooling fan:

  • To make a rubbing/metal-on metal noise when operating.

Does the cooling fan continue to run after the cycle is complete?

The turntable, microwave oven light and cooling fan (on some models) may continue to run until the microwave door is opened or Cancel is pressed.  The microwave cooking does not continue beyond the end of cooking cycle.

Is the turntable properly installed and operating properly?

A thumping or rumbling sound may occur in the microwave oven if the turntable is not installed correctly or if the support roller assembly is not operating properly.

The turntable can rotate in either direction to help cook food more evenly. Do not operate the microwave oven without having the turntable in place.

Are you experiencing static on your land line cordless phone?

Some 2.4 GHz-based cordless phones and home wireless networks may experience static or noise while the microwave oven is in use. Use a corded phone, a different frequency cordless phone or avoid using these items during microwave oven operation.

Are you experiencing static or noise on your TV or radio while the microwave oven is in use?

Some TV receivers and radios may experience static or noise while the microwave oven is in use. Move the receiver away from the microwave oven or adjust the radio or TV antenna.
