Possible Solutions

Is the door completely closed? 

  • If this is the first use of the microwave oven, ensure that the shipping spacer (on some models) is removed from the inside of the door.
  • Remove all packaging material and firmly close the door.

Is the display blank?

If the unit is in Energy Save mode (select models), the display will be blank when not in use.

The Energy Save mode puts the control and clock into a sleep mode and reduces energy consumption when the unit is not being used.

Is the oven control set correctly?

Refer to your Use & Care Guide for more information.

Is the Control Lock set? 

  • The Control Lock disables the control panel pads to avoid unintended use of the microwave oven.
  • Refer to the Use & Care Guide for instructions

Is the kitchen Timer set?

  • The Timer may be set and is counting down the set time.

NOTE: The Timer does not start or stop the microwave oven.  While the Timer is in use, the microwave oven can also operate.

Is the Microwave Oven in Demo Mode?  (on some models)

The Demo Mode is ideal for learning how to use the microwave oven. When set, functions can be entered without actually turning on the magnetron. The microwave oven light will come on, the fan will run and, if on, the turntable will rotate.

Are the controls set correctly for Cook Time and Power Level?

Manual cooking:

  1. Touch COOK TIME
  2. Touch number pads to enter time
  3. Touch COOK POWER (if not 100%), touch number pads to enter power level (10 - 90(
  4. Touch the Start control.

Is the magnetron working properly?

Heat 1 cup (250 mL) of cold water for 2 minutes at 100% cooking power, there should be a noticeable temperature rise.
