Odors or Smells - Electric & Duel Fuel Double Oven Range

Possible Solutions

Are you smelling gas odors?

It is normal to sometimes smell a slight odor of gas when using the cooktop.

If you smell gas when not using the cooktop, check to be sure that none of the surface burners has accidentally been turned on.

If you smell gas and have checked to make sure that no surface burner has accidentally been turned on:

  • Do not try to light any appliance
  • Do not touch any electrical switch
  • Do not use any phone in your building
  • Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions.
  • If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is used the first few times or when it is heavily soiled.

IMPORTANT: The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off by the oven. Exposure to the fumes may result in death to certain birds. Always move birds to another closed and well-ventilated room.

Aluminum Foil on oven bottom

IMPORTANT: To avoid permanent damage to the oven bottom finish, do not line the oven bottom with any type of foil or liner.

Covering the oven bottom can trap spills and debris resulting in odors.

For best cooking results, do not cover entire oven rack with foil because air must be able to move freely and the foil can trap debris causing odors.

Is the appliance on Natural Gas or LP Gas?

If the flames are too high or too low, excessively yellow and/or sooting cookware:

  • Ensure the appliance gas supply is correct (LP or Natural gas). These products come from the factory set for Natural gas.
  • Refer to the Installation Instructions to verify that the pressure regulator is installed correctly, the supply line pressure and the gas line pressure is correct.
