Not Operating - Has Power - Built in Microwave

Possible Solutions

Is the door latch/lock blocked?

Ensure the door latch is not blocked.  Below are some common items that may prevent the microwave from closing or opening:

  • Packing and/or shipping material
  • Dish or bakeware.  Ensure the dish is the correct size for the microwave, an oversized plate will prevent the door from closing.
  • Check that the cooking rack (if equipped) is not out of position and not allowing the door to close.

Is the display blank?

If the unit is in Energy Save mode (select models), the display will be blank when not in use. The Energy Save mode puts the control and clock into a sleep mode and reduces energy consumption when the unit is not being used.

Is the Control Lock set?

The Control Lock disables the control panel pads to avoid unintended use of the microwave oven. If the control lock is activated the microwave will not start. Refer to the Owner's Manual for instructions.  Refer to your Owner's Manual for specific information on your model.

Is the kitchen Timer set?

The Timer may be set and is counting down the set time.  The Timer does not start or stop the microwave oven.  While the Timer is in use, the microwave oven can also operate.

Is the microwave oven in Demo Mode?

The Demo Mode (on some models) is ideal for learning how to use the microwave oven. When set, functions can be entered without actually turning on the magnetron. The microwave oven light will come on, the fan will run and, if on, the turntable will rotate. Refer to the Owner's Manual for instructions.
