Cleaning the Interior or Cavity - Countertop Microwave
To clean the interior of the microwave cavity
IMPORTANT: Ensure all controls are off and the microwave oven is cool before cleaning. Always follow the label instructions on cleaning products. Soap, water, and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested unless otherwise noted.
To avoid damaging the microwave oven cavity, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths, or recycled paper towels. To avoid damaging stainless steel models, rub in the direction of the grain.
Cleaning the interior cavity of the microwave regularly will help to prevent damage caused by arcing due to soil buildup. We recommend keeping the cavity, microwave inlet cover, cooking rack supports, and area where the door touches the frame clean cleaned.
Average Soil
Mild, nonabrasive soaps and detergents: Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Heavy Soils
- Heat 1 cup (250 mL) of water in the microwave oven for 2 to 5 minutes. Steam will soften the soil.
- Continue cleaning the interior with mild soap and water using a soft cloth or sponge.
- Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
