Fan Noise in Oven - Combination Wall Oven
Possible Solutions
The Convection Fan may operate/run during both non-convection and convection cycles:
If the Fan/Air Movement noise is reduced or stops with the oven door open the source of the noise is the convection fan, the convection fan will stop running with the oven door open.
It is normal for the convection fan:
- To operate during preheat for both non-convection and convection functions.
- Turn off when the oven door is opened.
- The convection fan will come on immediately on all Electric convection models.
- During preheat or when a convection cycle is selected.
It is not normal for the convection fan:
- To operate with the oven door open.
- To make a rubbing/metal-on-metal noise when operating.
Is the oven currently in use or has a cycle recently completed?
It is normal for all wall ovens to have an automatic cooling fan that runs when the oven is in use and/or after a cycle completes.
The automatic cooling fan does the following:
- It helps to cool the enclosed oven cavity and the electronic controls when the oven is in use and/or after the cycle completes.
- Keeps the electronic controls cool during every oven function such as BAKE, BROIL or CLEAN.
Normal Cooling Fan Operations:
- For the automatic cooling fan to run when the oven is in use and/or after the cycle completes.
- To hear the automatic cooling fan move air when the oven is in use and/or cycle completes.
Note: In many wall ovens, if the oven door is left open to cool the oven, the cooling fan will not shut off.
Abnormal Sounds:
- To make a rubbing/metal-on-metal noise when operating.
Additional Factors
Explain to the customer noise is subjective and depends on a number of factors including but not limited to the following:
- Individual customer's expectations
- Size of the kitchen
- Amount of furniture in the kitchen
- Where the customer is in the kitchen when the oven is in operation
Remind the customer the new wall ovens have the largest capacity in the industry which means our oven cavities need extra cooling.
