Clicking or Ticking - Commercial Range

Possible Solutions

Were you trying to light a burner?

Clicking or Ticking could occur when lighting one or more burners. Check the following for proper operation:

  • Burner head and burner caps are positioned correctly (Reinstall the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with the burner cap.  The burner cap should fit flush with the burner base and have very little side-to-side movement.)
  • Ensure the burners are dry. The igniter will only spark to ignite the gas when the knob is moved past the Ignite position. You may have moisture in the burner ports from cleaning or a spill. Either allow to dry or clean. You can speed up the drying time by blowing cool air from a hairdryer on the area.
  • New Installation? There may be some air still in the gas line causing a clicking noise. If so, turn on any one of the surface burner knobs to release air from the gas lines.
