Clicking or Ticking - Gas Range

Possible Solutions

Are the surface burners making a clicking noise?

Once the knob is turned to the "Ignite" position, the burner(s) will make a clicking noise to light.  If all burners are turned off, you may have moisture in the switches from cleaning or a spill. Allow time for the moisture to dry. You can speed up the drying time by removing the knobs and blowing cool air from a hair blow dryer onto the knob shaft.

Is the burner head and burner cap positioned properly?

The burner cap must be seated on the burner base to light and perform properly. Reinstall the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with it. The burner cap should fit flush with the base and have little side-to-side movement.

Is the burner cap installed on the correct burner?

Be sure the correct burner cap is on the correct burner base.  The burner base and underside of the burner cap may have a mark indicating which burner cap and burner base match.  When reinstalling the burner cap, make sure the alignment pins are properly aligned. The cap should fit flush with the burner base and have very little side-to-side movement.
