Coffee Remains in Bottom Hopper
Possible Solution
What type of beans are being used?
Depending on the coffee bean and roast (light, dark, etc.), the bean may produce some natural oil when ground. This oil can accumulate on the sides of the bottom hopper, causing the grounds to stick.
The Top hopper, Top hopper lid, Bottom hopper, Bottom hopper lid, Grounds catcher tray, and Portafilter holder can be cleaned with warm, soapy water, then rinsed with clean water and dry with a clean soft cloth.
Does the chute need to be cleaned?
If there is static in the burr grinder, the area between the grinder and the bottom hopper might need to be cleaned. To clean the anti-static technology:
- Remove the bean hopper and the burrs
- Inside the grinder, a small hole will be visible; this is where the grounds pass to the bottom hopper.
- Use the brush that was provided and clean that hole thoroughly. This will remove any grounds that may have built up on the anti-static eye.
