Cleaning the Stainless Steel - Espresso Maker

How to Clean the Stainless Steel on your KitchenAid Espresso Maker

Premium finishes require maintenance! Oxidation and surface staining can occur on stainless steel when exposed to different environments. Be sure to care for your stainless steel appliance by following the cleaning instructions below:

Routine Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the stainless steel will keep it looking its best but will also help protect the finish.  This type of cleaning is recommended to be completed weekly, monthly, or after the appliance has been used.

  1. Use a soft cloth (microfiber recommended) with a solution of warm water and gentle dish soap. Clean with the grain of the steel.
  2. Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth to remove any residue.
  3. Thoroughly dry all surfaces.
  4. Wipe surfaces with a cleaner specifically made for stainless steel surfaces (oil or silicone-based).

Deep Cleaning

It is recommended that you deep clean your stainless twice a year or as needed to treat stains and restore luster.

  1. Wipe stainless surfaces with an acidic cleaner (either oxalic or acetic acid-based) with a concentration of 5%. White vinegar is an acetic acid and typically has a concentration of 5%. Wipe with the grain of the steel.
  2. Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth to remove any residual cleaner.
  3. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
  4. With a clean, soft cloth, wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining organic residue and displace any remaining water.
  5. Wipe surfaces with a cleaner specifically made for stainless steel surfaces (oil or silicone-based).
