Charging the Smart Thermometer

Charging the KitchenAid Smart Thermometer

Dock

  1. To charge the dock, attach the USB-C cable to the dock and plug it into a power source.  The light on the dock will pulse when connected to a power source and charging.
  2. Fully charge the dock in 100 min. When the Dock is fully charged, it can support up to 175 hrs of cooking time* with the Thermometer Probe.

NOTE: *Battery life is impacted by factors such as battery age and use.

Thermometer Probe

  1. To charge the Probe, simply place it securely in its dock (it will click in). There will be no lights on when the Probe is charging inside the dock, and the dock is not connected to a power source.
  2. Charge the Probe fully in 45 min. When the probe is 100% charged, you get 24 hours of runtime.  With a 5 min charge, you get 5 hours of cooking. *
  3. When the probe is placed in the dock and plugged into a power source using the USB cable, the Probe and Dock charge simultaneously.

NOTE: *Battery life is impacted by factors such as battery age and use.

Checking the Battery Status

There are two places in the KitchenAid™ App where you can view the Smart Thermometer's battery charge status.

From the Home Screen
1. Tap on the "Home" button and access your list of connected devices.
2. Selecting Smart Thermometer takes you to the Smart Thermometer Dashboard.
3. Tap the three dots ("...") next to the desired Smart Thermometer to see the battery charge levels for the Thermometer Probe and Dock.

From the Cook Monitoring Screen
1. When cooking, the battery charge level is visible in the upper right side of the Cook Monitoring Screen.
2. Tap on the battery icon to see the battery charge levels for the Thermometer Probe and Dock.

Note: The battery charge level shown depends on which object has the lowest charge at that moment (i.e., Thermometer Probe or Dock).

Thermometer Not Charging

Connect the USB cable to the Dock and the power source. When charging the Thermometer Probe in the Dock, make sure the top of the Thermometer Probe and the charging prong on the Dock are clean and in good contact with each other. You may want to try slightly bending the charging prong on the Dock to ensure contact. Charge for at least 5 minutes.
