How to Clean the KitchenAid Fruit/Vegetable Strainer
First, completely disassemble fruit/vegetable strainer attachment.
The following parts are dishwasher safe:
- Grinder body
- Grinder worm
- Strainer cone
- Strainer tray
- Splash shield
- Ring
- Combination food pusher/wrench
The following parts should be hand-washed in warm, sudsy water and dried thoroughly: Spring and shaft assembly.
Stains or Discoloration on White Parts
Plastic parts can gradually become discolored due to ingredients like carrots, tomatoes, or curry.
To remove the discoloration
1. Mix a solution of ¼ cup bleach with 4 cups (1 quart) of water
2. Soak for 2 hours
3. Thoroughly rinse and dry
Here are some other natural tips for removing stains:
- Juice of 1 lemon, 2-3 tbsp of baking soda, and some water. Then, scrub with a non-scratch sponge.
- Vinegar mixed with baking soda (and some water) will also work. Then, with a non-scratch sponge.
- 1-2 tbsp powdered dishwasher detergent with 1-2 cups of hot water, let it soak for 1 hour. Then, scrub with a non-scratch sponge.
