Q: The leftover core is too large – what can I do with it?

A: The piece of the vegetable left behind after the process is complete can be sliced, shredded, diced, etc. for multiple uses.  

Q: The fruit and/or vegetable is in multiple sheets and not one continuous sheet, am I doing something wrong?

A: The fruit and vegetable sheets are not always 10-foot, continuous sheets.  Sometimes, less symmetrical foods yield several 6-8 inch long sheets - which saves you time cutting the sheets into smaller pieces!

Q: Which types of foods are best for the thin and thick blades?

A: Two blades are included to provide choices for thickness.  Specific blades are not intended for specific recipes; rather, it is based on individual preference. 

Q: I tried using this with zucchini /cucumber and it stopped working – the vegetable is no longer spinning.  What happened?

A: What most likely happened was that either the adapter was not used, or the skewer did not insert completely so that there is no gap between the main body and the skewer – this step is critical for soft foods. 

Q: I used the product on a hard food, like sweet potato.  It’s very difficult to get the skewer out of the food.  What do I do?

A:  For this reason, it’s important to not insert the skewer in completely for harder foods, especially sweet potato – because it is difficult to remove.  If it’s too difficult to remove, you can use a knife to slice into the item lengthwise to break it into smaller pieces. 


Butternut squash

  • KitchenAid recommends using the top (non-seeded) section only, and peeling the skin before usage.


  • KitchenAid recommends using firm, fresh produce; using only the narrow top half, peeling before usage, and using the soft foods method as you would with zucchini or cucumber.


  • With all foods, there will be a leftover core piece of approximately 26mm in diameter.
    •  If desired, this piece can be sliced, diced, or shredded for use in your recipes.
