How to Fix Broken Speed Control or Lock Lever of a KitchenAid Stand Mixer

The plastic knobs on the lock lever and Speed Control levers are molded onto the metal levers during the manufacturing process.

Because the metal levers attach to the motor of the mixer, only a technician can replace them.

Mixer head stuck and lock lever moves freely

If this occurs, it requires repair.

Lock lever will not move

If this occurs, it requires repair.

Lock lever does not slide to the end

The lock lever may not go all the way to the end of the slot, but it is still possible for the lock to be engaged.

If the head will not lock, perform the Dime test because it is possible that the beater is too high and it is preventing it from engaging.
