Stand Mixer Sounds

Guide to KitchenAid® Stand Mixer Sounds

KSM150PSER.jpg

Stand mixer sounds can vary depending on several factors. The following sounds from the KitchenAid Stand Mixer are normal to hear:

  • Some larger stand mixers may sound shrill or "airplane-like"
  • DC motor mixers are quieter than AC model mixers
  • There are individual sound variations even among the same mixer
  • Clicking during heavy mixing is not unusual - it may be more pronounced in larger 7 and 8-quart mixers because they have DC motors which are quieter

Does a small KitchenAid® mixer sound different from a larger one?

If you are used to using a smaller mixer, and then purchase a larger one, it may seem louder, initially.  Larger mixers can be louder than smaller capacity mixers due to the need for a larger motor and all-metal gears.

If you hear any of the following sounds from your KitchenAid® Stand Mixer, it is not normal:

  • Screeching
  • Squealing
  • Grinding
  • Knocking

If your mixer is making these noises, please Contact Us for further assistance.
