Grinding Noise

Does the filter need to be cleaned?

Items stuck in the filter could potentially cause a grinding noise. Check the filter area for any foreign objects.

Filter Style 1

Cleaning the filters periodically helps keep the dishwasher working at peak performance and helps to remove the odor-causing soils. The filters can be found at the bottom center of the dishwasher. See the Owner's Manual for instructions on removing and cleaning the filters.

Filter Style 2

The pump is protected from large objects entering it by the foreign object cup in the front and below the lower rack. The maintenance-free filter system does not require any regular cleaning or maintenance. If this cup fills up with particles or objects, depress the tab in the center and pull up on the cup to remove it. Dispose of the contents and then replace the cup. To replace the cup, put into the opening and push down to lock in place.

Is it normal?

Some dishwashers have a built-in chopper that might make a grinding noise while in use. This sound could be heard at different parts of the wash cycle.
