Why does my china have dark marks?
Dark markings on light china are usually the result of metal being transferred into micro-cracks and pores of the glazing. This is common when spoons are used to stir in cups or a hand mixer is used in ceramic mixing bowls. Marking can only be prevented by not scraping ceramics with metal items.
