Spotting or Filming on Glassware

Possible Solution

Is the water turned on?

The water supply must be completely open to wash and rinse the dishes properly.

Are you using rinse aid?

The use of rinse aid is very important. Using rinse aid will optimize your drying and wash performance. Your dishwasher is specifically designed to use liquid rinse aid for improved drying performance and controlling buildup of hard water deposits.

Are you using the high temp wash option?

Always use a high-temperature wash option, as recommended by your Owner's Manual. This option raises the main wash temperature to improve cleaning for loads containing tough, baked-on food.

Are you using the heated dry option?

This option dries dishes with heat. This option, with the use of rinse aid, will provide the best drying performance. Heated Dry will NOT dry plastic articles or remove all the moisture from convex bottomed items.

Are you using improper dishwasher detergent?

Do not use hand soap or laundry detergents. Use automatic dishwasher detergents only.

Using pre-measured dishwasher detergent tablets and pacs have been proven better than powder, liquid or gel detergents to reduce filming on your dishes. By using these tablets and pacs, over time this will start to reduce or eliminate white film. Also, by using a rinse aid you can minimize repeat build-up of white film.

Have you cleaned the dishwasher?

Extremely hard water mineral deposits can cause damage to your dishwasher and make it difficult to achieve good cleaning. A water softener is strongly recommended if your hardness is 15 grains or more.

Use affresh® Dishwasher Cleaner, white vinegar rinse, or other dishwasher cleaning product, to remove white spots and film. Depending on the severity of the spots more than one treatment may be required.
