Filter is Dirty - Dishwasher

Possible Solution

The filters may need to be cleaned when:

  • Visible objects or soils are on the Upper Filter Assembly.
  • There is degradation in cleaning performance (soils still present on dishes).
  • Dishes feel gritty to the touch.

Your dishwasher has the latest technology in dishwasher filtration. This triple filtration system minimizes sound and optimizes water and energy conservation while providing optimal cleaning performance. Maintenance of your filters regularly will sustain peak cleaning performance. We suggest you clean both your upper and lower filters and rinse under running water at least once a month.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to dishwasher, do not operate your dishwasher without filters properly installed. Be sure the lower filter is securely in place, and the upper filter assembly is locked into place. If the upper assembly turns freely, it is not locked into place.

Cleaning the Filter

Filter Style 1

  1. Turn the upper filter assembly ¼ turn counterclockwise and lift out.
  2. Separate the upper filter assembly by gently pulling apart.
  3. Rinse filter under running water until most soils are removed. If you have hard-to-remove soils or calcium deposits from hard water, a soft brush may be required.
  4. Reinstall the filter.

Rinse upper filter assembly and lower filter plate under running water (tab water).

Turn the upper filter assembly one quarter turn counterclockwise and lift out.

IMPORTANT: Do not use a wire brush, scouring pad, etc., as they may damage the filters.

Filter Style 2

The pump is protected from large objects entering it by the foreign object cup in the front and below the lower rack. The maintenance-free filter system does not require any regular cleaning or maintenance. If this cup fills up with particles or objects, depress the tab in the center and pull up on the cup to remove it. Dispose of the contents and then replace the cup. To replace the cup, put into the opening and push down to lock in place.

Filter cup is placed below the lower rack at front-side.

Does the dishwasher need to be cleaned?

Dishwashers should be cleaned approximately every 30 days for optimal performance. Using affresh®  Dishwasher Cleaner or another dishwasher cleaning product every month will help keep your dishwasher from filming and spotting, and the interior clean and free of odors.

Extremely hard water mineral deposits can cause damage to your dishwasher and make it difficult to achieve good cleaning. A water softener is strongly recommended if your water hardness is 15 grains or more.

Cleans even where you can't see

affresh® cleans deep inside your appliances reaching components such as the tub, racks, pump, valves, drain, and recirculation hoses.

Cleaners are available at many retailers or can be purchased here.
