Drawer Won't Close - Trash Compactor
Possible Solutions
Is there something blocking the drawer?
Check the following areas for obstructions:
- Something behind the drawer. Trash or other items could have fallen behind the drawer as it was being pulled out. Remove the drawer according to the “Cleaning Inside the Cabinet” instructions in the Owner's Manual.
- Rails are dirty. Debris or dirty buildup could cause the drawer not to close properly. Inspect the rails for any debris that could be preventing the drawer from closing.
- Too much trash. If the compactor bag is too full, it could prevent the drawer from closing all the way. Remove some of the trash and run a compacting cycle.
Is the latch locked?
Open the drawer and inspect the latch. If the latch is in the locked position, it could prevent the drawer from closing. If it is locked, press down on the latch (pictured below). Close the drawer and run another cycle to verify that the problem was the latch.
