Proper Moving Care - Refrigerator

Possible Solutions

How to properly move a refrigerator

Your refrigerator is heavy. When moving the refrigerator for cleaning or service, be sure to cover the floor with cardboard or hardboard to avoid floor damage. Always pull the refrigerator straight out when moving it. Do not wiggle or “walk” the refrigerator when trying to move it, as floor damage could occur.

How to properly transport

The refrigerator can be transported in either the upright or prone position.

  • If moving an older refrigerator, containing Refrigerant 12, the refrigerator should be placed in the upright position for a minimum of 24 hours before connecting to power.
  • If the refrigerator contains refrigerant R-134A, the refrigerator should be placed in the upright position for a minimum of 15 minutes before connecting to power.
  • The type of refrigerant stored in the refrigerator can be found on the model and serial number tab.
  • Failure to follow these recommendations may result in damage to the refrigerator compressor.
