Using the Control Lock Feature

How to Use the Control Lock Feature on a KitchenAid Refrigerator?

The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.

NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the refrigerator, to the ice maker, or the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the dispenser controls and pad.

The dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid unintentional dispensing by small children and pets. The lock feature does not shut off power to the refrigerator, to the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the dispenser controls and pad.

To use the Control Lock Feature:

NOTE: Instructions for turning this feature on and off vary by model number. Please review your Owner's Manual for specific instructions.

  • Press and hold TO LOCK for 3 seconds to lock the dispenser. 
  • Press and hold TO LOCK a second time to unlock the dispenser. The display screen indicates when the dispenser is locked.
  • Controls, Settings, and Features vary by model; Check your Owner's Manual for specific information. 

NOTE: If you attempt to change settings or dispense ice/water while the dispenser is locked, "CONTROL LOCKED" will flash on the display screen.
