Door Hard to Open - Quad Door

Possible Solutions

Was the door just opened?

When the door is opened, cold air flows out of the refrigerator, and warm, humid air can enter. When the door is closed, the warm air mixing with the cold air can create a vacuum, making the doors harder to reopen. If this occurs, allow the internal pressure to equalize before re-opening the door. It should take less than one minute. It is part of regular operation and is more likely to occur during the warmer, humid times of the year.

Are the gaskets dirty?

The door gaskets should be cleaned so the door opens and closes properly. Dirt and other particles can build up on the gasket surface and can cause resistance. Check the door gaskets regularly to ensure they are clean and free from food particles.

Is the refrigerator level?

It is important to ensure the refrigerator is level. A properly leveled refrigerator will help with its proper operation. Check to make sure the floor under the refrigerator is level. If the floor is not level, shims may need to be used to level the refrigerator properly. Please refer to your Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions for specific leveling information for your refrigerator.

  1. Move the refrigerator to its final location.
  2. Using your hand, rotate the brake feet counterclockwise until the rollers are off the floor, and both brake feet are snug against the floor. This keeps the refrigerator from rolling forward when opening the doors.
  3. Use a level to ensure the refrigerator is leveled from side to side and front to back.

IMPORTANT: If you need to make further adjustments involving brake feet, you must turn both brake feet the same amount to keep the refrigerator level.
