Popping or Cracking Noise - Quad Door

Possible Solutions

Popping or Cracking Noise

  • Contraction and expansion of the refrigerator's inside walls may cause a popping or cracking noise, especially as the refrigerator cools down for the first time or defrosts.
  • This sound can also be heard when the ice is ejected from the Ice Maker. Ice falling into an empty bucket can make a loud banging noise.
  • Both are part of regular operations.

Is the refrigerator level?

It is important to ensure the refrigerator is level. A properly leveled refrigerator will help with its proper operation. Check to make sure the floor under the refrigerator is level. If the floor is not level, shims may need to be used to level the refrigerator properly. Please refer to your Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions for specific leveling information for your refrigerator.

  1. Move the refrigerator to its final location.
  2. Using your hand, rotate the brake feet counterclockwise until the rollers are off the floor, and both brake feet are snug against the floor. This keeps the refrigerator from rolling forward when opening the doors.
  3. Use a level to ensure the refrigerator is leveled from side to side and front to back.

IMPORTANT: If you need to make further adjustments involving brake feet, you must turn both brake feet the same amount to keep the refrigerator level. \
