What Items Can be Stored in the Ice Bin

What Can I Store in KitchenAid Ice Maker Bin?

Ice bins play a vital role in residential settings by offering dedicated storage for ice, enhancing accessibility and functionality. In homes, they are typically integrated into refrigerators or standalone units, making ice readily available for cooling drinks, food, or entertaining guests. Understanding how to use your undercounter or freestanding ice maker properly will ensure you have clean ice when needed.

We do not recommend storing anything, other than ice, in the storage bin or your KitchenAid Ice Maker. Storing food items could cause odor and flavor transfers to the ice.

Tips and Reminders for Freestanding Ice Makers

Preventative maintenance is key for KitchenAid ice maker to continue working correctly. The following are some reminders:

  • Clean your ice maker regularly. Perform a thorough deep cleaning every 9 months or when the "Clean" light is illuminated.
