Lighting the Burners - Electronic Ignition

Possible Solution

The cooktop burners use electronic igniters in place of standing pilots. When the cooktop control knob is pushed in and turned to Ignite, the system creates a spark to light the burner. This sparking continues until the control knob is turned to the desired setting.

All burners will click/spark when a knob is pushed in. A burner will light only if the knob is pushed in and then turned counterclockwise to “Ignite.” Surface burners use electric igniters. When the cooktop control knob is turned to the “Ignite” position, a spark is used to light the burner, this sparking will continue between the “Ignite” and “Hi” positions.

Always keep the burner cap in place when using a surface burner. A clean burner cap will help avoid poor ignition and uneven flames. Always clean the burner cap after a spillover and routinely remove and clean the caps according to the “General Cleaning” section in the Owner’s Manual.

To light the burners:

  1. Push in the knob.
  2. Turn the knob counterclockwise to “Ignite”. Wait until you see a flame.
  3. Turn the knob anywhere between Hi and Lo to the desired setting.
