Oven Calibrated - Too Cold - Electric Range

Possible Solutions

Does the temperature of your range or oven need to be adjusted/calibrated?

If you feel that your oven temperatures may not be accurate, it's possible that your oven may need to be calibrated or adjusted. There is a test that can be performed to decide if your range or oven is baking at the correct temperature.

Did you place food in the oven before the preheat cycle was complete?

Did you open the oven door to check baking/cooking results?

Always use the oven light to check cooking/baking progress because opening the oven door heat to escape and the oven to cool.

Has the temperature been set to Celsius instead of Fahrenheit?

The temperature in the oven(s) is preset to Fahrenheit but can be changed to Celsius. If the oven has accidentally been changed to Celsius, the oven control will not exceed 260°.

What type of Bakeware are you using?

The bakeware material effects cooking results. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations and use the bakeware size recommended in the recipe.

How many pans were on the rack? How large of pan were you using?

Hot air must be able to circulate to cook food evenly. Allow 2" of space/clearance around baking pan(s) and the oven walls.

Was an entire oven rack or the oven bottom lined with aluminum foil?

Do not cover an entire oven rack or the oven bottom with aluminum foil below the baking pan. This can block good airflow.

New Oven and Too Cold

The oven provides accurate temperatures; however, it may cook faster or slower than your previous oven.

It is normal to notice some baking or browning differences between a new oven and an old one. As ovens get older, the oven temperature can shift, this could indicate the oven temperature is either too hot or not hot enough.

IMPORTANT:  Do not use a thermometer to measure oven temperature.  Burners will cycle on and off as needed to provide consistent temperature but may run slightly hot or cool at any point in time due to this cycling.  Opening the oven door will affect cycling of the burners, impacting the temperature.
