Tips for Improved Cooking Results Using the Smart Thermometer
Is the probe fully inserted?
Fully insert the thermometer so no metal is showing (just the black ceramic top), and make sure the Smart Thermometer is not too close to the meat's surface.
Check the probe placement
- Use a cut of meat that is at least 3/4 inch thick
- Avoid any large fat pockets or air pockets in the meat.

Test the Thermometer
You can also run a quick test to check your thermometer's calibration.
- Add some water and ice to a cup (no more than 2.5" worth). Let it cool for a few minutes.
- In the KitchenAid App, after you press the Set Up Cook button, select the “manual” mode setup, the first option.
- Place the stainless steel portion of the thermometer into the ice water. The app should show the temperature drop to 32-36 degrees.
